Mrs. Laura Champeny, Hartland, has received word from her son, Talbert E. Champeny, that he has been commissioned a second lieutenant in the Motor Transport corps. Lieut. Champeny enlisted as a private in July in special mechanical work and was sent to Lewis institute, Chicago. On Sept. 12 he was selected from five hundred men to go to the chemical warfare service at Washington, D.C. He received his commission last week and will now be stationed at Jacksonville, Fla. Tyler Champeny is quite seriously ill at his home in Hartland. the Champeny family are former residents of this village. Waukesha Freeman, Wednesday Evening, December 1, 1937.

Mrs. Chester Lingelbach received word of the death in California, about ten days ago, of Mrs. Roy Owen of Decatur, Ill. The remains were brought back to Decatur, where the funeral was held last Tuesday. She was about sixty years of age. Besides her husband, she is survived by several children and grandchildren. The Owen family moved to Sussex from Waukesha many years ago, and spent several years as residents of this village, moving back to Decatur, their original home, a few years ago. While in Sussex they purchased what was known as the old Champeny Creamery property into a dwelling house. The home is now owned by the Frederick Fuchs family.
